Hairdressing moving forward

I’ve been a hairstylist for 46 years, I’m still a working stylist and I also help businesses with their marketing. My career has been in top London and international salons. Around 2000 I qualified as a master practitioner of NLP. I decided that I wanted to learn about communication and NLP helped me to do that. I never thought that we would be living through such anxious times, a lot of people think things will never get back to normal and they may be right. I personally think that with massive and consistent action we can stay busy , perhaps even busier. How? Read on

Growing your hair becomes easier with a Long hair planning consultation

I work in Marchmont Street in Bloomsbury, it’s a very central area which is close to Russell Square and Kings Cross stations. I have been based here for the last 18 years first as a salon owner then as an independent stylist and also as a salon marketing consultant. The point here is not my experience ( 46 years) or my location but what things make clients become regular customers?. One thing is I help clients work out a plan to grow their hair.

How often to get a Haircut and why consistency is worth it

For years I have run a long hair planning centre,, if you are wondering what that is?, it’s simple. I help people grow their hair, hairdressers have a reputation for cutting hair too short. I aim never to do that, and I tell my clients that a very small trim very often will help them achieve the long hair they desire. It’s a problem if you just don’t cut your hair because the ends split. Then you have to cut a ton off just to get to a decent base line. Olivia came to me about 5 years ago, she was fed up as her hair never got past her shoulders. We treat the hair and cut a quarter of an inch off every six weeks. Now the hair is nearly to her waist and super shiny! The other key is getting past the boredom, to grow your hair you have to avoid spur of the moment restyles. For long hair consistency and perseverance is the key

Strong Haircut with a striking colour

When you have a solid haircut such as a Bob, It's always a good idea to consider colour. I believe that is the time to make a bold statement with the colour you choose. Very striking dark clouds such as Blue, Black and deep Burgundy looks stunning. If, however, your skin tone dictates that you need to go more towards a blonde, then go in strong. Nowadays, bleach is not as scary an option as years ago; they lift higher and are kinder to the hair. You can also add a Plex treatment such as Olaplex to make the process even safer. You can then have them toned to your desired shade, for example, Platinum. There is maintenance to consider, and it's a good idea to have very regular conditioning treatments to keep your hair in top shape. If you want to add an even shinier finish, the Sebastian Cellophanes is a brilliant product for this leaving a clear shine on the hair to give a glass-like reflective quality to the hair

Time for a change of hairstyle as things start to return to normal

It seems like ages since the first lockdown, and as things start to return to normal, clients are returning in droves. I get the impression people are ready for change, we’ve all endured so much.
